Boar Glass was founded in 1996, by artists Bengt Hokanson and Trefny Dix in Greenport, NY. The hot glass blowing and casting studio was established to create custom architectural projects and the artists' personal sculpture. The studio has presently evolved to be a more complete glass facility producing both functional and sculptural blown and cast glass.

Bengt Hokanson graduated from Tulane University in 1993 with an anthropology degree and a minor in glass blowing. His large mixed media sculpture incorporating blown and cast glass with materials such as carved wood, fabricated metal and found objects explore a clashing ground between modern industry and nature.

Trefny Dix graduated from Indiana University Bloomington in 1993 with a B.F.A. in sculpture. Her Mixed media sculptures, incorporating cast and blown glass with steel, plaster, metal screen and natural fibers, represent figural forms and their fantastical accessories.

Bengt and Trefney's collaborative work, produced under the name Boar Glass, inspired a line of handmade hot cast architectural tiles, small functional and fun objects, and one-of-a-kind blown sculptural forms. The blown vessel forms, made with out molds, are one of a kind. The artists, influenced by classic Italian glass blowing techniques, Japanese block prints and urban graffiti, use the saturated luminescent colors of glass to accentuate organic forms. These pieces are a series of pure glass expressions, contrasting to their other sculptural work which incorporates glass with mixed media.

The work of Boar Glass and the work of Bengt Hokanson and Trefny Dix is currently shown at galleries throughout the United States.
